That was exactly the point. I wanted you to SEE the point about editing so I edited just what I asked you to prove.

Just like you asked me to prove points from posts that were edited and deleted. Again this is not rocket science.

Apparently it IS rocket science where you're concerned. You're a tad behind, laddy. The rest of the class is on page 56. Would you like to join us?

To review:

1. You called Direwolf a "racist warmonger" with no evidence whatsoever to support this fact (the "racist" part is what really set me off).
2. When I asked for proof, you fumbled about for several posts attempting to change the subject, then told me to go searching myself- only when pushed did you suddenly claim all the evidence had been edited and/or deleted.
3. You then edited your own original offending post and challenged me to prove you ever said it. It is date-time stamped as such.
4. I pointed you to my follow up post, where your original post was quoted verbatim. The original date-time stamp remains in place.
5. You are now searching for a towel to wipe the egg from your face in front of the small gathering that has witnessed this debacle.

I'm guessing you're somewhere between 20 and 25, or maybe a really juvenile 30. Based on your posts, either English isn't your native tongue or, in trying to sound somewhat intelligent, you're stringing together words without fully understanding their meaning. Either way, it's not helping your case.

Your real problem, though is that you seem to be struggling with acceptance of the fact that(as High Flow and many, many others have pointed out) not all Deadheads hold the same views on politics, religion, or much of anything except their love of Grateful Dead music (and even in that arena there can be some serious disagreements). When someone tried passing the peace pipe your way a few posts ago, you basically rejected it.

Your refusal to accept the fact that even when provided with the same information available to you others may not see the world the same way you do can only be attributed to ignorance and immaturity.

Not a problem. Trust me, I’m quick with a cussword myself and it was a struggle to hold back.

Not that you couldn’t have handled this ass clown all by your lonesome. He just happened to trip two of by biggest triggers:

1.) The assumption that all Deadheads neatly fit a certain stereotype. Newsflash: we’re not all the same. Grow up.
2.) The casual pasting of labels like “racist” and “bigot” on anyone who doesn’t subscribe to a certain leftist political bent. This I’m absolutely sick of and will simply no longer tolerate, whether it’s directed at me or someone else. This is not an off-the-cuff insult and should never be directed at someone simply for remarks made in jest or taken out of context. These are serious words, and using them in an attempt to discredit and smear someone just because they don’t see things the way you do is despicable.

Now, back to your vitriolic spewings!

watching you neatly slice and dice his entire argument - all i could picture left of Spaced by the end was the tiny character of Plankton from Spongebob Squarepants just flailing his little "arms". (sorry, i have two young daughters).

it was an entertaining and impressive performance skuzz - hence, i happily stayed the hell out of the way :)

You're letting your emotions run away with your rationality. I'm not saying permanently, but in this case I don't understand why you don't see that I edited the post intentionally and told you that I did for the very reason why I can't make a good case.

As direwolfxxx admitted, and of course I've already made this point -- he said the things. I should have realized that people would cover their tracks, and in hindsight I understand their shame.

Now, let's have a heart-to-heart on immigration and the racial composition of the US. I think that would clarify things real quick. :)

Damn, you're a slow one, aren't you?

1a. Yeah, you deleted your post on purpose- we GOT IT.
1b. Somehow you've made a near world record leap in logic that the fact that you can edit your posts, and Direwolf can edit his posts, in some way validates your claims that he is a "racist warmonger."

So, repeat after me: "one has nothing to do with the other."

Work with me here, ol boss.

Hey Spaced. Why are you here? Do you like GD? I ask because that is what we, in this forum, all have in common.

I would love to send you some music, man. Once you are on the receiving end of kindess from the folks here at LMA, our political differences will melt away.

All deadheads are not the same. That is what makes this crowd so fun. It's not your typical social-club. As heads, we have decided the most important topic to discuss here is our love of music.

Day to Day political topics come and go, but attemting to change the way others think is exactly the type of behavior you rant against. So, quit it.

andy@gemut.com

You have unlimited access to my archive of over 75 GD shows and over 600 cd's of various genres.

I offer this because I want you to know just what kind of people you are offending. Maybe then, you will lighten your touch.

Peace.

Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Re: left to right, where are you?

Thanks. But at this point, hearing what I've heard, I can't get too close. I'm sorry but advocating mass genocide is shameful and very un_friendly.

Even the question "Do you like GD?" shows a disconnect. I wouldn't be able to interpret and misinterpret the lyrics if I wasn't connected!

Almost similar to scriptures of many types, I've found much in GD songs that I once overlooked. It seems that many of US can't remember "Are you kind?" really does apply outside of listening to music. Why limit kindness to our tribe, nation, religion, etc.

I used to think that Deadheads were exemplary people, but now I know another way the night comes so quiet and it's close on the heels of the day. The seeds of light are not all the same it seems.

Heads I've know have gone beyond music, because the music required it. Hints of song meaning in other songs flowing in and out of each other. Maybe a statements like that or riffing off songs is too pretzel logic for some who don't want to think too much about desolation row.

I'm no doubt not the only one who had enough, so I can close with this from Dark Star, which I found for the 1st time just now on Hunter's archive:

spinning a set the stars through which the tattered tales of axis roll about the waxen wind of never set to motion in the unbecoming round about the reason hardly matters nor the wise through which the stars were set in spin

You are just chicken and you hide behind what you think are deep analogies and grand lyrical referrences, but you come off like a slime-ball.

Sorry, dude. I am among the top 99% in the universe when it comes to honesty and, though I often bite my tongue for the sake of the offenders feelings, I call them as I see them.

You, the hairy little troll-turd...

The offer stands and I still have hope, but sparky, you are way off track. Your reluctance to grab the hand that reached-out speaks VOLUMES.

Sure my analogies might not always be on target, but I'd be a fool to trust someone who turns so quickly to foulness.

Why would I give personal information to hostiles with multiple screen names when even in San Francisco radio jocks target liberal journalists, politicians, and everyday people with 'jokes' about torture, hanging, and mass genocide.

Maybe you guys who hide behind so many screen names are astroturf plants or just homegrown crazies who might someday decide to act on something like hate radio KSFO's forecast that people will be hanging from the lampposts when the right-wing revolution comes.

Spaced - I just offered an olive branch and you reply w/ this SHIT! It's SHIT, MAN! WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU EXPECT?

Exemplary? Yes! All these "wingnuts" have spent hours of their valuable time and money to share this music. Like my offer to you, many here have made offers to me. No strings attached. It's a circle of kindness which you seem to be blind to.

You had nothing to lose. I know you have read my posts over the past 6 months so you know I've dealt honestly with my LMA mates. It wasn't your lack of trust for me, it's that you run away from anything that might be good.

I just feel sorry for you now. This thread is so revealing, and it doesn't look very good for you. You've lost the respect of your fellow man. Shame.

Ok - this is me and just me. I do not have multiple screennames - what you see is what you get with me. And what I get with you is a pain in the neck.

What you need to if you want anyone to have a shred of sympathy for you and your viewpoints is to stop and think and clarify your thoughts before you post them. You also need to stop hijacking the writings of Robert Hunter et al and subverting them to your needs and prejudices. I try hard to avoid falling into the temptation of disenfranchising the inarticulate, but brother you push me close. If you want anyone to listen to you you need to be prepared to substitute dialogue for diatribe. You've been made generous offers recently, so grow up and join in - or shut up and shove off.

Holy crap, I just wasted 20 minutes of my life I will never get back reading that entire thread back to the beginning. Castro v. Batista? Don't know about you, but I'm stickin' with Michael Jackson jokes.

Robert Hunter: "...I fear a lot of people are thinking: what's with the breakdown of basic human decency in the Grateful Dead?
...
By the way, when I say Grateful Dead I'm not referring to the surviving members of that generational phenomenon expressed as music, but to the Mythos generated around it in which all who believe are able to partake according to their belief. I hate seeing the endemic cynicism of the times hamstring that lofty giant which everyone admits was bigger than any of us."

I'm all for spirited debate, I just get a little put off when it spills into personal attacks (I'm guilty of this as well re. "flew up his butt" could have been left out of my comment). I don't really care who fires the first salvo, but it is then our responsibility not to fan the flames by firing back with personal comments. I may be an ignorant prude, but at least I called myself that. Let's see if we can play together in the same sandbox without killing each other.

Disenfranchise me then. None of you discuss matters of substance. You only cast stones, accuse and bully.

I don't have to agree with victims of groupthink who habitually make hateful remarks. There's already been too much ugly wingnut rhetoric in last 6 months of this forum. Christmas in the South attending parties where people said massive nuclear bombing of the Middle East was good, perhaps that had some effect on me too.

"hijacking the writings of Robert Hunter"?!

'None of you discuss matters of substance.'

There are many of us here who are more than happy to discuss matters of substance. If there's one thing I've learned in my short time in this forum it is that there are some fierce intelligences here. Underestimate them at your peril, sir.

'I don't have to agree with victims of groupthink'

One thing that would be evident to the meanest intelligence scanning this forum is that there is no evidence of 'groupthink'. A more diverse and articulate group of individuals you would be hard pressed to find.

"hijacking the writings of Robert Hunter"?!
